What are Status Codes?

Status Codes are used to indicate the status of a loan and its disbursements. These codes will allow you to determine if your loan has been approved and ready for disbursement, or if additional information is needed from you or your school.

ELM Resources

The ELMNet Loan Inquiry system contains information from student loan lenders across the country, and uses a combination of real-time loan inquiry and data retrieval from ELM Resources' central database to provide information about your education loan.

Check Your Student Loan Status
Checking the status of your student loan is easy. Regardless of the lender you have chosen, you can click the button below to access a national database provided by ELM Resources. First-time users will need to establish a user ID and password in order to access the database.

Please Note: Even though you may have already completed an application/promissory note for your loan, your school must certify your eligibility for the loan in order for it to appear on the ELMNet system.

Attention Transfer Students

The financial aid office at the school you will be transferring to will need the Lender Name and Lender ID/Entity ID for your student loan lender. It is recommended that you borrow future loans from the same lender previously used as this will simplify your repayment process. If you don’t remember which lender you borrowed from at your previous school, please follow these easy steps:

  • Log onto the ELMNet Loan Inquiry database to view your Loan Listing. The Loan Listing shows all of the loans you have previously borrowed.

  • Click on the link to the Lender for your most recent loan which is located at the top of the Loan Listing.

  • A separate window will open with the Lender Profile information (lender name, lender code, address, contact information) for your most recent loan. It is recommended that you borrow future loans from the same lender previously used as this will simplify your repayment process. If you choose to borrow a student loan to pay for your education at the college you are transferring to, you will need to provide the financial aid office with the Lender Name and Lender ID of your student loan lender.

  • If you have additional questions about financial aid, please contact the financial aid office of the college you are transferring to.

How does ELMNet Loan Inquiry work?

The ELMNet Loan Inquiry system uses a combination of real-time loan inquiry and data retrieval from ELM Resources' central database to provide information on your education loan. Real-time inquiry, designated by a real-time icon in the loan listing, provides you with the data received electronically directly from your lender or servicer in real time. It is the most current data available on your loan. All other loan data is retrieved from the ELM Resources' database, which is refreshed at least daily, and as often as hourly, by institutions providing the data.
